Crunch Time! is a fresh and innovative card game with a touch of humour, based on videogame development, in which you’ll have to manage your own company, and complete the best and biggest projects before your opponent.
Rules of the game are simple. You are all cards. Get ready to be played.
Crunch Time is a Trading Card style game. You have a set of cards that you play against your opponent, but instead of attacking directly, you move to finish your goals. You can only impede your opponent’s advances when it comes to their turn. However, unlike a TCG, there are no more cards to collect. You and your opponent have the same exact decks, meaning an equal playing field.
The game makes up for this with use of humor. It uses various tactics like play on words to try to get a laugh out of people, and my first few rounds, I had fun noticing what it hid. The game sadly lacks any form of multiplayer, so it gets tedious fast.
There isn’t much else to talk about, so what about the BGM? It’s there. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s just there. I’d comment on it more, but as far as I can tell, there are only two tracks in the game, one for you, and one for your opponent. If there are others, they all sound similar enough to be unnoticeable, and they are actually great for the background as you barely notice they are there.
Overall, I don’t have too much to say about Crunch Time, so I’d have to give it a slice of bread rating. It’s an alright game, but the appeal wears off fast. I am looking forward to the sequel, which is supposed to have multiplayer.
