Retro City Rampage is an open world GTA-like where you go around on missions trying to get your time machine fixed. To some, it is exactly a retro-ized Grand Theft auto, and that’s because that is what the project started as. The game has you controlling Player, as you run around a city high jacking cars, killing people and encountering various pop culture references. The controls are very tight, and it plays well thanks to that.
Is that… could it be… IT IS!

The music in this game is pretty decent and fits the game well. I would often change stations to find the right one for my mood, and would lay waste to the denizens of the city as I rocked out.

I found a weird bug that I’ve only been able to do twice. I somehow take control of Player during a scripted scene and it breaks the game, making it to where it won’t continue.

Overall, I’d have to give Retro City Rampage a piece of toast rating. It hits a lot of things in the right spot, but it does drag on a bit. It has more padding to it than I would like, and some areas are purposefully difficult. If you like Grand Theft Auto and pixels, though, I do recommend it.
