Side-scrolling mech-shooting bad-assery is BACK! GIGANTIC ARMY is a heartfelt homage to 16-bit era mech shooters such as Cybernator / Assault Suits Valken, Metal Warriors, and Front Mission: Gun Hazard, developed by the studio behind the acclaimed shooter SATAZIUS.
We must eradicate the world of these foul creatures. Hop in your mech and boot up the manual, it’s time to review this!
Gameplay Gigantic Army is a side-scrolling shooter, with mild platforming. It controls well with the keyboard, using arrow keys for movement and zxcv for actions. Each level features the usual “mindless” minions along with minibosses and an end boss. Navigate them carefully being sure to keep your health and special weapons ready for the inevitable.
The music is pretty spot on for the levels. It’s a great throwback to the era the game emulates, and I for one would love to purchase the soundtrack if it’s ever made available.
Overall, I’d give the game a Toast rating. It’s a fun shooter, with great arcade style action. If you want a good arcade game, I highly recommend purchasing this little gem.
